The best wireless earbuds and earphones in 2019

Whether you're on your way to work, going to the gym or relaxing by the pool on a sunny day, wireless earphones are one of the best ways to hear your music on the go.

You might think that wireless earphones are not as good as wired models – this is because a few years ago, Bluetooth was not the best way to listen to your favorite music.

Earlier, Bluetooth earphones did not sound as good as their wired counterparts, had connection problems and were known for their short battery life.

Luckily times have changed. With improved standards for wireless transmission, such as aptX and battery technology innovations, Bluetooth earphones are fast becoming the most popular way to listen to music, and many of the best earphones offer wireless connectivity.

When it comes to wireless earphones, the big question is, which brands have proven to be the best when it comes to big Bluetooth enhancements and the future of audio innovation?

Audio companies like Jaybird, Plantronics, Nuforce, RHA and Jabra are great options, as they've put a lot of time and money into improving audio quality without compromising battery life – and there are some great options from major players like Sony, Apple and Bose too.

Beats do not always have the best reputation when it comes to audio performance, but the Beats X tries to improve the record. The Beats X compensate for their slightly bassy, tight sound with a solid connection and a pairing process that is as painless as possible on iOS devices at least. If you're looking for an uncomplicated pair of headphones that charge in 5 minutes, work well with iOS, and do not mind spending a bit more money, the Beats X is for you.

Long-lasting battery

Very expensive

Sound is not great for its price

Life is full of compromises, and the Bose QuietControl 30 is no different. On the plus side, you'll get noise suppression similar to the brand's over-ear headphones. That's just not the same level as other in-ear or over-ear headphones we tested.

There are also The A neckband that gives the otherwise slender headphones an unfortunate mass.

Efficient noise suppression

Unobtrusive glances

A lot of fun to listen to

No volume control on earphones

Not suitable for sports

Given that it's still rare for wired earbuds to experience noise reduction, Sony has managed to pack them into a pair that's not just wireless, but also true Wi-Fi is very impressive indeed.

The Sony WF-1000X offers a noise suppression that is very good for a pair of earphones – it does not offer the same isolation as a pair of over-the-ear cans, but if you're looking for a slim form factor then it's worth the tradeoff.

There may be some minor issues with these wireless earbuds, but we think Sony threw the ball out of the park with the WF-1000XM3. These undoubtedly good-looking True Wireless headphones are not only the best, but they also combine serious noise canceling technology with breathtaking musicality.

Enter the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1s: With an outstanding battery life of 45 hours, they combine the award-winning technology of the brand with the convenience of wireless monitoring.

For a pair of true wireless earphones, the sound quality of the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1s is sensational. In fact, it can compete with some of the best over-ear headphones, which is anything but unknown to buds of this size.

They may not have the noise cancellation technology offered by Sony's WF-1000XM3 Wireless Earphones, but are $ 100 cheaper and have superior battery life.

They surpass the Apple AirPods in all respects, except for the lack of wireless charging. However, this is a low price for this exceptional audio quality, and we believe that they also offer a much better value for money.

RHA TrueConnect

4. RHA TrueConnect

Acoustic design: closed | Weight: 13 grams | Frequency response: 20Hz – 20kHz | Driver: 6mm | Driver Type: Dynamic | Sensitivity: N / A | impedance: N / A | Battery life: 25 hours (with suitcase) | Radio range: 10 m | NFC: N / A

Balanced, detailed sound

Excellent workmanship

Reliable connection

Mushy buttons

No app to customize the sound

Although the TrueConnect is RHA's first true wireless headphone, the company has demonstrated its R & D capabilities, making it one of the best true wireless headsets on the market today. The combination of sound quality, battery life and wireless connectivity make these headphones headphones you can count on every day.

The Jabra Elite 65t sets the standard for true wireless headphones. Regardless of what RHA did here with the TrueConnect, they are still great headphones. Compared to the RHA TrueConnect, the Jabra, with its useful ambient noise mode, offers more features to improve situational awareness and an app that lets you customize the sound.

The RHA has none of these features, but we did not miss them, thanks to better sound quality and wireless reliability. The RHA also feels more like a premium product than the all-plastic Jabra.

All in all, RHA TrueConnect should be at the top of your list when you buy real wireless headphones.

Excellent battery life

Balanced sound quality

Limited choice of earplugs

Limited water resistance

If you want a pair of high quality, truly wireless earphones that are not Apple AirPods, then the Jabra Elite 65t should be at the top of your list.

After spending over a month with them, we were impressed with the rounded package Jabra put together: the earphones offer a subtle, sophisticated look and reliable wireless connection. which is not always the case with really wireless earbuds. Moreover, they sound great compared to the competition.

If you're looking for an alternative to the RHA TrueConnect, opt for the Elite 65t.

6. Beats PowerBeats Pro

Easy pairing with iOS

Impeccable fit

Pleasant sound

Case is pretty bulky

Limited noise isolation

The new PowerBeats Pro is really wireless While Beats headphones are not exactly the earphones predicted by analysts, they are special – they are extremely comfortable, sound decent and never seem to fail.

Nevertheless, they are, in our opinion, the best true Apple wireless earphones that have ever been available, thanks to small additions such as the pressure-reducing air hole for microlaser air pressure, longer battery life and superior sound quality. If we had to choose between these and the AirPods in the house or office, we would wear them.

Samsung Galaxy buds

7. Samsung Galaxy Buds

Acoustic design: Closed | Weight: 0.2 oz (housing weighs 1.4 oz) | Frequency response: N / A | Driver: N / A | Driver Type: N / A | Sensitivity: N / A | impedance: N / A | Battery life: 13 hours (with suitcase) | Radio range: 10 m | NFC: Yes

Comfortable, secure fit

Stylistic appearance

Easy to pair and use

Ambient noise can be annoying

Touch controls are not always accurate

It feels like Samsung has finally come to the right place with the Galaxy Buds, and they are a serious competitor to the Apple AirPods in terms of design, sound and ease of use. We liked the pearlescent effect on the outer casing of the buds and the sleek design of the case and found that they felt comfortable and secure.

The sound quality of these real radio buds is indeed very good, with deep bass and a wide open sound stage. The downside is that other features available in the app, such as ambient sounds and equalizer presets, are useful, but not always as effective as we had hoped. Worse, these features are also not available to iOS users because you can only download the app on Android 5.0+ devices.

However, if you own a Samsung phone, the Galaxy Buds are a fantastic pair of true wireless earphones that stand out from the competition with some quality of life features. If not, you can miss those extra features, but the high-quality sound, the comfortable fit and the attractive design mean these buds can be a smart buy for the iOS crowd as well.

8. Apple AirPods (2019)

Acoustic design: closed | Weight: 4 grams (38 grams in a case) | Frequency response: N / A | Driver: Not applicable Driver Type: Dynamic | Sensitivity: N / A | impedance: N / A | Battery life: 20 hours (with suitcase) | Radio range: 10 m | NFC: N / A

Faster pairing

Wireless charging

The wireless charging case costs extra

Audio did not improve

The second-generation Apple AirPods, the AirPods (2019), are not all that AirPods 2 we were hoping for – they still have the iconic design of the original AirPods (a good or bad thing, depending on your point of view), and the sound quality has not changed at all. Most of the upgrade comes from the new H1 headset chip, which improves connectivity and battery life and enables a new voice activation feature called "Hey Siri".

The big difference is that the AirPods (2019) are optionally supplied with a wireless charging case. So you can use a Qi-compatible charging mat to power the case instead of plugging a cable into the Lightning charging port on the bottom of the case. Like their predecessors, they are super easy to pair, but they are very optimized for use with iPhones – and they are not exactly cheap.
