In the race for better and better wireless headsets, LG may have discovered a killer function … a germ-killing feature: The new LG Tone + Free wireless headphones feature a UV light in the case that kills germs while the headphones are being used.
We've seen these kinds of features on other peripherals in the past, especially in the smartphone category. However, this is one of the first times that it is built directly into the case of a headphone.
Apart from this unique feature, the LG Tone + Free is admittedly similar to the myriad of other real wireless headphones that have come on the market in recent years – they only last about six hours per charge, but are rechargeable quickly. They last for about an hour Playing time from five minutes on the charger. You are also equipped with Google Assistant. This is a nice feature if you plan to pair it with one of LG's flagship phones, such as the LG G7 ThinQ or the LG V40 ThinQ.
Other features include the IPX4 rating, which makes it sweat-resistant and ideal for training. They are customized by Meridian Audio, LG's new audio partner.
The problem? You have to live in South Korea to get one. As of now, the Tone + is a Korea exclusive product that is expected to cost 259,999 won (about 215 USD / 175 GBP / 320 AU $). With the CES 2020 just around the corner, however, there is always the possibility that these anti-beating training buds will approach us sooner rather than later. Germs, take care.
