Pixel Buds 2 are likely to be announced later this month, source says

While there is not much information about it, according to a new source, Google Pixel Buds 2 is expected to be announced at this month's Made by Google event, if not earlier.

This source spoke recently 9to5Google. and says that Google will soon introduce second generation wireless earphones even though they did not name the Google event by name.

At this event, which is expected to take place on October 15, the company will certainly be showcasing Google Pixel 4 alongside other new hardware.

The Pixel Buds 2 has the right timing for a second generation. Two years ago, the original Pixel Buds were introduced, and a new Google phone could be the perfect companion for the next generation of earphones.

Will the Pixel Buds 2 be wireless or really wireless?

The big question for Google's next pair of earbuds is whether they're just wireless, like the original Pixel Buds, or really wireless like Apple's AirPods. The former design has a cord that connects the two buds while the latter is completely wireless.

For Google, it would certainly make sense to wirelessly access the next generation of earphones, especially now that true wireless earphones are relatively common – though this is not a guarantee.

In terms of price, Google has released the original Pixel Buds for 159 USD / 159 GBP. This seems to be a plausible price point that the company can once again strive for with the Pixel Buds 2.

In any case, we'll be in New York City this month for the Made By Google event – and we'll certainly have an ear for Google's new friends.
