OnePlus 7T Pro launch live blog: the event as it happened

OnePlus has set an unusual release schedule for its latest series of phones, featuring the OnePlus 7T at its own event in September and introducing the OnePlus 7T Pro today.

The company has now officially unveiled the OnePlus 7T Pro on stage and announced the release date for the OnePlus 7T in the UK.

We were there live at the kick-off event and below you can read carefully what happened and how we judge the disclosure of the company.

OnePlus 7T Pro launches a live blog

All times in British Summer Time (BST)

17:05 – We've been using the phone for about a week, and you can now read our OnePlus 7T Pro review. We will make a final judgment on the handset the next day or so.

That's all of us tonight – thanks for watching this event.

17:00 – It's over. We've just heard the prices for the UK, where the OnePlus 7T costs £ 549, while the OnePlus 7T Pro costs £ 699. The McLaren edition of the phone costs £ 799.

16:57 – There is also a new olive version of the Bullets Wireless 2 headphones.

16:56 – OnePlus is now announcing a partnership with PUBG developers to enhance the devices specifically for the game itself.

16:55 It feels like we're packing up when Carl Pei re-enters the stage.

16:53 – Many driving word games here. We'll go up one more gear and so on …

16:49 – The McLaren Edition has 12 GB of RAM integrated. That's crazy and the best we've ever seen on a OnePlus phone.

This is going to be an expensive phone, right?

16:46 – So there is a McLaren edition of the phone, whose unique design is matched to the sports car brand. However, we still have to learn if it differs in terms of the technical data at all.

16:41 – It comes with an x 3 telephoto lens and not the x 2 telephoto lens of the standard OnePlus 7T. And now we hear about the McLaren version of the phone, which is a little surprising, considering that the standard version of the OnePlus 7T Pro does not contain too much.

16:40 – It features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. This time, there seems to be only one memory version.

16:39 – There we have it – the OnePlus 7T Pro is official. Let us find out what has changed …

It seems to have all the same features as the OnePlus 7T, but there are a few key differences that we'll discuss now.

16:38 – As soon as we pressed the "Publish" button for this last post, he indicated the pro … let's do that!

16:37 – Can you say that we get a bit nervous? We really want to know something about the OnePlus 7T Pro. Give us the new news!

16:35 We reviewed all the new camera modes of the OnePlus 7T announced at the September India event. It's all the same as we saw back then when we talked about features like macro mode and its super even video stabilization.

16:25 – We mainly talk about the 90 Hz display of the OnePlus 7T. We used this phone as many times as the OnePlus 7 Pro, and we can confirm that it's an experience you'll find it hard to lose when switching to other phones.

16:19 – Now, Akis Evangelidis – part of the OnePlus team in France – is on stage to catch up on the phone's specifications. The problem is that we start with the OnePlus 7T.

Read all about it in our full OnePlus 7T review.

16:18 – Finally something big. OnePlus will update all devices since the OnePlus 5 to OxygenOS 10. This means that Android 10 will be available on all devices in the last two and a few years.

16:17 – Pei is back on stage to talk to us about Google Lens and how the technology is integrated with OnePlus phones. It is essentially an image recognition technology, but it is not an exclusive feature as it is currently downloadable on most smartphones.

16:16 – Now we learn a lot about Android 10 in general, like the Digital Wellbeing features as well as the gesture control. We have complete instructions for Android 10 for you.

16:12 – There is a new feature called Instant Translation that translates your conversations when you speak in a different language.

OnePlus has not announced a release date or details of this feature, but we will certainly learn more about it soon.

16:10 Many important OxygenOS features we've already heard of the OnePlus 7T, including some new features for Zen mode and a system-wide dark mode.

16.06 – According to Pei, the company often uses customer feedback to provide a better user experience in future updates. Many uses of the word seamless – this is perhaps already our most-heard word of the show.

16:03 – OxygenOS is the first topic we did not start with today. Pei shows some positive numbers for how people have enjoyed the software so far.

We have not heard a word about new features in the software … until now.

16.02 – And we are gone. Carl Pei is on stage and there is already a technical problem where the auto cue function is not working properly. Pei is fine with it.

15:55 We sit down and are ready to go. At the moment we are watching a video explaining how far OnePlus has come. Can we just go to the product announcements?

15:40 – Despite the problems with the London Underground, we are now live at the OnePlus event and trying to find a seat. This is what the event looks like from the outside and then from the inside.

14:50 – We are now on the way to the start. What kind of food will you have? This is our main question at the moment, but we are also curious about which technologies they will also offer.

It is very certain that we will hear about the OnePlus 7T prizes, the OnePlus 7T Pro itself, and maybe even a short piece about the new OnePlus TV.

13:55 – Pete Lau is ready and ready to go, according to his Twitter feed. Well, he did not say that … we just take it from the fact that he tweeted the muscle and hand emojis next to a Union Jack flag.

There are only a few hours until the next handset from OnePlus.

09:50 – Just a few hours before the launch of the OnePlus 7T, a leak has resulted in the price of the 7T and 7T Pro McLaren Edition.

According to the leak, the phones should have the same cost as their non-T versions – with the exception of the McLaren Edition, which of course has no non-T counterpart and may be the most expensive OnePlus smartphone.

The OnePlus 7T Pro prize will almost certainly be announced later at the event. So we'll soon find out how accurate this price leak is.

08:30 – As we mentioned in the introduction, today is a strange day for OnePlus. The company has already introduced its OnePlus 7T handset, but the release date in the UK and pricing has not been confirmed to date.

Exactly why OnePlus announced the two phones separately, the company has not made it clear, but we hope that we will have the full picture by the end of today.

We've had plenty of time with the OnePlus 7T and you can read our full review of this phone below.
