Nokia’s 800 Tough feature phone will take a mauling and keep on calling

Are you tired of dropping expensive phones and breaking them? HMD Global feels the pain of why the Finnish company is launching its first rugged mobile phone on the Australian market this Thursday, the Nokia 800 Tough.

The Nokia 800 Tough is dust and waterproof (IP68) and designed to withstand drops and extreme temperatures. It meets the requirements of military standard MIL-STD-810G, so that it can withstand weather conditions down to -20 ° C or down to -20 ° C as 55º Celsius.

According to HMD Global, the Nokia 800 Tough should be able to repel a 1.8m fall on concrete and function normally, making it ideal for use on construction sites.

Practical and affordable

Similar to the Nokia 3310 (2017) and the Nokia 8110 4G before, the Nokia 800 Tough is a feature phone with a small screen and a physical keyboard, which means that it does not purposely have full smartphone functionality.

In addition, Google Assistant, WhatsApp and Facebook are preinstalled on the 4G LTE device and can download additional apps from a growing App Store.

In terms of power, the handset also has a flashlight on the top and a built-in loop on the bottom, so you can easily attach the Nokia 800 Tough to a belt, lanyard, backpack or wristband.

The Nokia 800 Tough costs AU $ 189 and will be available from Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Harvey Norman (in-store and online) and JB Hi-Fi (online only).
