Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have used Marvel's Avengers panel at the New York Comic Con to announce that Kamala Khan, also known as Ms. Marvel, is a playable character in Marvel's upcoming Avengers game will be.
While she will be one of six playable heroes in the overall game, Khan will be the main character in the main story. According to storyteller Hannah McLeod, "she's the one who will make you experience our original Avengers story, it's her perspective."
The announcement trailer released at the Comic Con confirms that Khan will join forces with A-Day in Marvel's Avengers game, the catastrophic celebration at the start of the game, where the Avengers' core team is split and discredited.
As a newly formed monster and a big fan of the Avengers, Khan will play a key role in the main story of the game, uncovering the conspiracy against the heroes and reuniting the gang while becoming their own as Mrs. Marvel.
In another trailer behind the scenes, we look more closely at how the powers of Marvel will work in the game. With her polymorphic abilities, she can deform her body, grow very tall and shrink. Her most notable ability is Embiggen, which allows her to prolong her attacks and avoid other attacks, while Ultra-Embiggen status allows her to gain in size and blow her enemies up.
Along with well-known characters like Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America and Thor, Ms. Marvel is a fresh new face to the game and her sincere belief in the well-being of the Avengers will likely prove a much needed tonal balance to the grim cynicism of her more experienced players Mithelden.
Marvel's Avengers will be released on May 15, 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, Stadia and PC. Those who attend the EGX 2019 in London later this year will have the opportunity to play the game themselves as it can be played on the show floor.
