Miele WCR860 – Outstanding look, functionality, performance and intelligence, the Miele WCR860 has it all
The WCR860 has arrived on the test bench with a lot to prove, including its value at £ 1,500. Miele’s W1 machines have always got the best grades in our tests, so the last ones have a good provenance. But the new look, the new display and the panoply of new intelligent technologies could they be at the height of the pedigree and continue to amaze us? Oh yes, that’s the case.
The WCR860 is a 9 kg machine with a drum that can hold as much as the 10 kg models of other brands. This drum is fully illuminated by clean white LEDs and has a hexagonal patterned surface designed to allow clothes to slide smoothly over the surface, covered with a thin layer of water.
The perforations are recessed, numerous and tiny. Thus, even objects as small as paper clips will stay in the drum instead of being sucked into the drain pump.
It is powered by a state-of-the-art, low-power, low-noise ProfiEco engine with a lavishly bold porthole door with mirror-chrome trim. Nothing wrong with a little bling … other than fingerprints, obviously.
The machine itself is covered with wear-resistant white enamel to resist scratches and scratches on the long ride. The fascia is elegant and contemporary. A wide, clean and contrasted multicolor touchscreen and one button is enough.
The touch screen is very responsive, it never misses a press or scan in our test, and the menu structure is easy to read and extremely logical. He uses big bold icons and good size text on a black ink background. In addition, there is a convenient help button on many screens, in case you get lost.
You have the choice between 26 series programs and others can be downloaded. If this leaves you with a dilemma when selecting a program, the wash wizard automatically selects a program by asking you what type, what color and what fouling the clothes are washed.
He then asks if the load requires a delicate additional treatment, if someone who wears it has allergies, if the wash should be extremely quiet for night use, etc., until it is clean. he builds the perfect program for washing and the circumstances. You can then save this as a favorite to ignore the 20 questions next time.
Many wash options cover just about all the healthy options you need: Fast, Eco, Water Plus, Extra Rinse, Single Wash (for very small loads), Pre-Iron (to reduce wrinkles), Pre-wash Wash, Soak, Intensive, Allergowash (for allergy sufferers and delicate skin), Extra Soft, Rinse Hold and Extra Quiet.
On the latter subject, the WCR860 is extremely quiet, it is virtually inaudible to gently turn your clothes to wash and a spin of 1600 best describing a “buzz”. And that was before the activation of the Extra Quiet mode that promises to earn a few more decibels.
The application replicates everything that is available on the touch screen, while providing a wealth of data on the levels of energy use, energy and use. However, we had real problems with the stability of the Android application during testing; he crashed several times. Chances are that this bug was thwarted by the time you read this, but it took a bit of shine from an otherwise neat operation.
Miele WCR860 – Automatic dosing and a range of specialized detergents make the Miele WCR860 seriously versatile
Miele’s TwinDos automatic dosing system for detergent and conditioner is a welcome return. A pair of full containers is supplied with the machine, but a replacement kit costs £ 65 for a pack of five of 3 x UltraPhase 1 and 2 x Ultraphase 2. You can use the liquids of your favorite brand in the cartridges by setting up a TwinDos detergent customized in the application.
Miele also offers you the option of using a normal soap drawer and filling it every time. However, once you get used to using TwinDos with the exact amount of consumables, after detecting the weight of the load and the clogging, thus avoiding filling the drawer, you will not be able to go back.
Fortunately, the drawer itself is not totally redundant as it also contains the mounting slot for Miele’s funky Capodos capsules. CapDos allows you to automatically add special detergents for wool, sportswear, down clothes or stained clothes. If our awesome test results on a band of spots using a booster, it is exceptional, they work exceptionally well – but are not cheap at £ 10 for six caps.
Even without special caps, the Miele offers a truly exceptional cleaning performance. Our regular dye tape is very clear, even the severe turmeric dye test has been almost completely removed. This is a result we have only seen on a few machines in the last five years of testing.
The general wash emerged from the drum, only looking slightly crumpled, which is unusual with a 1600 centrifuge machine. The spin performance was not negatively affected, however, as the Miele consistently applied performance. Class A spin at full load and even better at half load.
By observing the power measurements, the WCR860 Eco programs mocks the A +++ energy efficiency, with a huge energy margin to save. Our half-load test (3.6 kg) on Eco is used with less than 0.4 kWh (only 6 p!) Of electricity and less than 40 liters of water. Since most people tend to wash about 4 kg on average, they consume a lot of water and electricity for everyday use.
In case the 5 year warranty of the WCR860 does not say everything you need to know about the reliability of Miele, this model incorporates the water protection system WPS (water protection system) from Miele. It is equipped with a heavy-duty double-walled, self-closing backflow and internal leakage feeder, benefiting from Miele’s 20-year water protection warranty. This covers any damage caused to your home by a machine leak during the next two decades of use!
The latest W1 range from Miele has once again raised the bar for washing machine performance here at , and the WCR860 is a truly state-of-the-art appliance.
The asking price is just as exceptional because it is close to the most expensive washing machine we have tested. Fortunately, the WCR860 lives up to its premium rate ticket, with breathtaking performance, superb looks, incredibly smart apps, and plenty of great features.
The WCR860 is simply the best washing machine we’ve tested.
Why buy the Miele WCR860?
The WCR860 is an objectless exercise that uses an old concept, the modest washing machine, and adapts it to the latest technological advances in performance and performance optimization. And it works too.
Flawless washing results, super environmentally friendly, very quiet and packed with really useful features such as TwinDos, CapDos, drum lighting, touch screen and smart features, the Miele is a tour de force 39, excellence in engineering performance peak. Even those who are a bit nervous with all these electronics or “more to be wrong” should be satisfied with the 5 year warranty.
Additional operating costs associated with the use of Ultraphase Liquids and CapDos Specialty Detergents are unlikely to affect your handbag if you are in the market for a £ 1,500 device anyway. The best of all products is never cheap. Therefore, if you can afford to purchase the WCR860 when it comes to the washing machine market soon, buy it easily – you will not be disappointed.
