Boasting an attractive design and a wide range of speeds, the KitchenAid’s KitchenAid’s 7-speed Hand Mixer is primarily intended for true fans of the brand. Due to the limited edition nature of this product, it is actually more expensive than the KitchenAid Plunge Mixer model, better equipped. But with durable, dishwasher-safe tools, it’s a good investment for the frequent baker.

What is the KitchenAid 7-speed hand mixer Queen of Hearts?
The Queen of Hearts 7-Speed is a special Edition KitchenAid hand-held drummer, part of a line to celebrate the 100’sth anniversary. All devices in the range are passion red, the standard silver trim strip has been replaced by another with tiny silver hearts on a red background and a centennial logo. (It’s more tasteful than it looks.)
With an excellent variety of speeds, from slow to extremely fast, this mixer is versatile enough to overcome my general dislike of hand blenders. However, it is also quite expensive and only comes with a whisk and two beaters – with the dough hooks sold separately.
KitchenAid 7-Speed Hand Mixer Queen of Hearts – What You Need to Know
- Whipping: The egg whites took 3 minutes to reach soft peaks and 1 minute to become stiff, at speeds ranging from 1 to 7.
- Beat: It took only 1 minute and 25 seconds to combine everything to get a mix of muffins and only 10 seconds to incorporate additional ingredients. Even the slowest speed seemed a little fast for this mix. To make the cookie dough, beat the butter and sugar until foamy consistency took 1 min 20 sec to settings 3-4. The rest of the ingredients were combined in 2 minutes 25 seconds and the chocolate chips were mixed evenly for 20 seconds.
- brewing: The chopped boiled potatoes were mashed with a mixture of milk and hot butter in 3 minutes, with only a few remaining small pieces.
KitchenAid’s Queen of Hearts 7-Speed Manual Mixer is an attractive hand blender with easy-to-use features
The handle is ergonomically designed with a rubber bottom, providing a comfortable, non-slip grip.
This mixer also features a lockable swivel cord of a very generous length, giving you more freedom to move around in your kitchen. You can lock the cord in place left or right from the back of the device, which means it should not interfere.
In special edition, this mixer is only available in passion red. I do not see this as a problem though, as its beautiful glossy red plastic body does not seem to attract too much smudge. For those who want something more modest, the KitchenAid 9 speed Hand mixer comes in a few different finishes.
The KitchenAid Queen of Hearts 7-Speed Hand Mixer has an LED speed indicator and buttons for progressive movement between settings.
The LED speed indicator, the on / off switch and the buttons for increasing and decreasing the mixing speed are all located in the upper part of the handle, the button for ejecting the tools lying all up.
Above the LED you will find marks for 1, 3, 5 and 7, with intermediate settings marked with dots. Below, the on / off switch and the buttons with the arrows pointing up and down to increase and decrease the speed, respectively. It’s very intuitive.
Although this mixer has a soft start function, you will always start your mix slowly because the default starting point is speed 1 and you can only increase it gradually. You never have to worry about starting with a splash.
The KitchenAid Queen of Hearts 7-speed hand mixer comes with a whisk and two whips, but the dough hooks are only available for an additional charge.
While the 16-wire whip and stainless steel whisks are sturdy and durable, it is disappointing that the mixer does not come with dough hooks, especially at this price.
The manual states that the dough hooks are needed to mix and knead the bread dough, but that they are “sold separately”.
Although somewhat basic and shared among several different models, the manual contains a practical breakdown of the settings and accessories to be used for specific actions, from mashing to mashed potatoes to whipping foams.
I found some speed settings suggested in the manual a bit too fast, however, adopting a slower pace over and over. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the slowness of speed 1 here. The more affordable hand blenders, such as the Swan Fearne 5-Speed, often have a more limited speed range, from fast to extremely fast.
Should I buy KitchenAid Queen of Hearts 7-speed hand mixer?
If you’re a KitchenAid enthusiast and you’re happy to invest in this limited edition product, the Queen of Hearts 7-speed mixer features durable tools and a wide speed range.
However, the KitchenAid 9 speed the hand mixer has a slightly lower selling price and even greater speed range, as well as dough hooks for kneading.
For those looking for something more affordable, the manual drummer Russell Hobbs 24672 Desire Matte Black is not that bad in terms of speed range, especially considering its price.
