It's the 80th anniversary of Batman and a capped crossover has been announced to celebrate Fortnite creator Epic Games.
With a blog post and a video announcement, Epic Games confirmed that the long-running event will last until October 6, turning the Rift Zone Tilted Towers into Gotham City.
Apart from this thematic position, players will also receive their own Batman cloak and the power of Glider Redeploy in the Batman Crossover, so they can play carefree heroic heights.
Regarding Batman items, the game features the Batman Grapnel Cannon and the explosive Batarang.
With the Grapnel weapon, which is only available in the Mythic version, players can fire the weapon and then move to the point of impact, with the bat cloak offering a bit more control and distance for the landing.
The Explosive Batarang, also in the mythical version, is a bit more destructive. When thrown, it invades your opponents and explodes when it comes close. If you miss a person and instead hit an object, the Batarang sticks and behaves like a proximity mine, waiting for someone to approach the explosion. It's worth noting that eagle-eyed opponents can actually pick up a batarang stuck in an environment and disarm them for a throwback.
The Fortnite Store also celebrates with a Batman Caped Crusader package that includes two outfits. There are also individual items available, including a Catwoman Suit.
Outside of cosmetics, Fortnite will launch some Batman-inspired hero challenges that will be available through October 1, offering the opportunity to receive free rewards from the Welcome to Gotham City bundle.
