Dell U2419H UltraSharp 24 Monitor is an economical 24-inch 60Hz Full HD monitor for homebuyers looking for a low-cost screen for work or home offices.

Boasting 99% sRGB color gamut coverage and 85% DCI-P3 ready-to-use color, the Dell UltraSharp 24 could also be a reference for photo and video editing.

The Dell UltraSharp 24 uses IPS (In-plane Switching) technology and has response rates of 5 to 8 milliseconds. This largely means that it’s not ideal for games, where response times are essential.

It’s a good angle of view for entertainment. Whether you are watching a film or cat snippets that fall on YouTube, the Dell UltraSharp 24 promises to be flexible – although the lack of built-in speakers means you’ll need to plug in your own audio system.

Dell UltraSharp 24 Design – The ultra-thin bezel offers stylish styling

The Dell UltraSharp 24 is a sleek monitor, with a simple design, black and silver, which incorporates a 23.8-inch screen in a frame of 53.85 x 31.37 x 3.9 cm. Naturally, the telescope is extremely thin: when the screen is off, you will hardly notice it’s there.

The height-adjustable stand lowers and raises the monitor by 13 centimeters until the chin floats about 4 cm above the surface of your desk. The flexible mount allows you to rotate the Dell UltraSharp 24 to 80 degrees and tilt from 21 to 5 degrees.

There are also VESA and flat-panel interfaces if you want to repair the Dell UltraSharp 24 Monitor U2419H monitor to another media or media.

The ports of the U2419H, L-R: HDMI, 2 x DisplayPort, 3.5mm audio jack, USB-B, USB-A, USB-A

There are many ports available for you here. On the bottom of the screen is an HDMI 2.0 port, two DisplayPort connections (an input, an output), a 3.5mm audio jack, a Type B USB port (for connecting to hubs), and two ports. USB type A: a standard port and the USB port. other support charge.

On the left side, two more type A USB ports, hidden and invisible, are again installed, one supporting the loading and the other not.

There are no USB-C ports. If you want a cheap Dell monitor with one of these, check out the Dell UltraSharp 24 U2419HC monitor, which has similar features, includes a USB Type C port and writes) about £ 30 more expensive.

If you need more ports, you also have two USB-A ports on the left, the bottom one supporting power.

Installing Dell UltraSharp 24 – As Easy As You Want

The configuration of the Dell UltraSharp 24 U2419H Monitor is simple: it is light enough to be used by one person.

A clip located at the back of the UltraSharp 24 allows you to lock the monitor in place once you attach the support column, which fits snugly into the base of the bracket. You can easily tilt and rotate the object with one hand when sitting on your desk. The action is fluid enough to allow you to do so easily and sturdy enough to keep the monitor in place once you have fixed the problem as you wish.

As with many monitor mounts, you can store all your cables by passing them in a circular cutout.

This is a full HD display (1920 x 1080). It is set to this default display when you turn it on for the first time.

The OSD (on-screen display) is accessed by pressing one of the four hidden buttons at the bottom right. It would be nice if each monitor could have a 5-way directional stick, but the judicious menu layout and responsive buttons ensure that navigating the menus is not a nightmare.

The main menu option (second on the right) allows you to change the brightness and contrast, change the input sources (DisplayPort, HDMI, Auto Select, Reset Input Source), choose from multiple presets. Color (Standard, Comfort View, Multi-Screen Match, Movie, Game), while Color Temp allows you to manually play and try to reach 6500K, while Custom Color allows you to adjust manually RGB levels.

The layout is clear and logical, and you will not need a lot of time to memorize the shortcuts, despite the old school’s four-button approach.

Dell UltraSharp 24 Display – A Tast Case

In short, the images displayed on the Ultrasharp 24 are beautiful enough for office work. Approach and you will be able to easily identify the individual pixels, but you are unlikely to notice it within 3 feet. It’s only when you come to do something like photo editing where the gaps become obvious.

Composing the brightness as much as possible and using an x-Rite i1 DisplayPro colorimeter and the DisplayCAL 3 software to take a reading gave rather unsatisfactory results: a maximum brightness of 216.61 nits and a deceptive black level of 1.4 nits, adding a contrast ratio of 153: 1.

For context, 300 nits is the standard level of maximum brightness that you should get monitors nowadays, and the black levels should be as close as possible to zero. In general, most monitors and laptop displays tend to display black levels of about 0.2 to 0.3 nits – any overrun of 0.4 nits is considered “bad.”

True, the UltraSharp 24 is a budget monitor, and at this price, something has to give, but that does not change the fact that users may have difficulty with dimmed display when working late at night or in an office without adequate lighting.

The main weaknesses of the U2419H are a low maximum brightness and a color space coverage lower than the indicated values.

I’ve also recorded a color temperature of 6934K, which is slightly cooler / blue than the 6500K lens that looks most like natural light.

On a more positive note, the color space coverage tests – performed with the same equipment and the same software, but with a brightness of 150 nits -, have given scores corresponding to the standard at which you can wait nowadays. However, they are far south of the promised 99% and 85% sRGB and DCI-P3 coverage:

  • 87.3% sRGB
  • 60.3% Adobe RGB
  • 62.1% DCI-P3

The sRGB score (standard RGB) is the one that deserves the most attention. Web pages, digital art works and many digital photographs are designed / created / photographed using the sRGB color space. Clearly, this means that a high percentage of the sRGB color gamut is dealt with here. Therefore, websites, webcomics and photos look a lot like what they should.

The color uniformity is very good here too. As you can see from the chart below, only one point on the panel had below-average brightness levels.

The viewing angles, as can be expected from a monitor using IPS technology, are also very good. I have never had a hard time reading anything, and as you can see in the picture below, it is only at extreme angles that you will notice a severe discoloration.

Dell UltraSharp 24 Monitor U2419H

The U2419H is by no means a perfect monitor, but its viewing angles are very powerful.

Should I buy Dell UltraSharp 24 U2419H Monitor?

The UltraSharp 24 U2419H monitor from Dell offers great value and is hard to beat if you have a budget of around £ 200. For £ 50 extra, you can buy the very similar U2419HC, bundled with a USB Type C port, but this is only worth the extra cost if you are likely to connect more updated devices to your monitor.

With powerful viewing angles and respectable coverage of the color space, the Dell UltraSharp 24 U2419H Monitor will do the trick, but it is not intended for professional editing of photos or videos.

Mac users would benefit from consulting the LG UltraFine 4K Monitor because it was designed specifically to work with macOS, but as it is around $400 more expensive, it may be outside your price range.

Overall, it is an excellent monitor for lifestyle and office tasks. For worksheets, video streaming and web browsing, it is an economical monitor.

Despite some flaws, the U2419H remains a solid value option

The UltraSharp 24 U2419H monitor from Dell is dropped by a low maximum brightness, but is also a great value monitor for lifestyle and basic desktop use.
